The Spinal Sandstone is a poetic form intended to express pleasure with Onspunuz the Unkempt, originating in The Aware Rapacity. The form guides poets during improvised performances. The poem is a single quatrain. A form of parallelism is common throughout the poem, in that certain lines use the same placement of allusions. Each line has three feet with a syllable weight pattern of short-short-long (quantitative anapaestic trimeter). Every line of the poem has an initial caesura. The third line of the quatrain contrasts the underlying meaning of the first line. The third line of the quatrain is required to maintain the phrasing of the second line.
