The Exploratory Courier

The Exploratory Courier is a light poetic form concerning a journey, originating in The Order of Lofts. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is a single couplet. Use of consonance and ambiguity is characteristic of the form. Forms of parallelism are common throughout the poem, in that certain lines often contrast underlying meaning and they have similar grammatical structures. Each line has fourteen syllables. The second line of the couplet presents a different view of the subject of the first line. The first line is intended to make an assertion. The second line is intended to undercut the previous assertion.
