The Cymose Sorghum-Grain

The Cymose Sorghum-grain is a ribald poetic form concerning someone's character which grew out of the performances of The Guidebooks of Abetting. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is a single couplet. The first line is intended to make an assertion. It must make use of assonance. It has three feet with a syllable weight pattern of short-short-long (quantitative anapaestic trimeter). The second line is intended to invert the previous assertion. It must make use of assonance. It has six feet with a syllable weight pattern of long-long (quantitative spondaic hexameter).
