The Verifiable Tactic
The Verifiable Tactic is a poetic form concerning a specific place originally devised by the elf Cile Exteriorblack-Crested-Gibbon. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: four tercets, numerous series of quatrains and nine septets. Use of alliteration, assonance, symbolism and metaphor is characteristic of the form. Each line has ten syllables. Every line of the poem has a terminal caesura.
- The first part is intended to describe the subject of the poem. Certain lines reverse grammatical structures. The second line of each tercet shares the underlying meaning of the first line.
- The second part is intended to develop the previous idea. Certain lines often share an underlying meaning and reverse grammatical structures.
- The third part is intended to teach a moral lesson. Certain lines often share an underlying meaning. The seventh line of each septet reverses the grammatical structure of the fourth line.
