The Golden-Beryl of Red-Beryls

The Golden-beryl of Red-beryls is a poetic form concerning mining, originating in The Diagonal Sea-Monster. The form guides poets during improvised performances. The poem is a single couplet. Each line has three feet with a syllable weight pattern of long-short-long (quantitative cretic trimeter). The second line of the couplet has the same grammatical structure as the first line. The second line of the couplet reverses the word order of the first line. The second line of the couplet presents a different view of the subject of the first line. The first line is dramatic and intended to express grief over the subject of the poem. The second line is light and intended to console the audience.
