The Puzzling Savant

The Puzzling Savant is a poetic form concerning someone recently deceased originally devised by the dwarf Rimad Sportciphered. The form guides poets during improvised performances. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: a line, a tercet and another four to five tercets. Use of assonance is characteristic of the form. Every line of the poem has a terminal caesura.

• The first part is dramatic and intended to make an assertion. It has eight syllables.
• The second part is light and intended to make a counter-assertion. It has lines with seven syllables.
• The third part is reflective and intended to synthesize previous ideas. It has lines with six syllables.
