The Rosy Brainchild
The Rosy Brainchild is a dramatic poetic form, originating in The Inefficient Evils. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: a couplet, a line and another couplet. Use of assonance and juxtaposition is characteristic of the form.
- The first part is intended to make an assertion. It has lines with five syllables. It has a terminal caesura in each line.
- The second part is intended to make a counter-assertion. It has nine syllables.
- The third part is intended to synthesize previous ideas. It has lines with sixteen syllables. It has a terminal caesura in each line.
