The Hemp Ilmenite
The Hemp Ilmenite is a reflective poetic form concerning the hunt, originating in The Longing Country. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: two to four couplets, another couplet and two to three quatrains. Use of internal rhyme and simile is characteristic of the form. Each line has sixteen syllables.
- The first part is intended to describe the subject of the poem. Certain lines use the same placement of allusions and present different views of the same subject. The rhyme scheme respecting the full poem is AA.
- The second part is intended to develop the previous idea. Certain lines use the same placement of allusions and present different views of the same subject. The rhyme scheme respecting the full poem is AA.
- The third part is intended to move away from previous ideas. Certain lines use the same placement of allusions. The fourth line of each quatrain presents a different view of the subject of the second line. The rhyme scheme respecting the full poem is ABAB.
