The Ingenious Test is a poetic form intended to express grief over religion, originating in The Turquoise of Revolutions. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is an extremely long series of octets. Use of assonance and metaphor is characteristic of the form. Each line has eight syllables. The sixth line of each octet shares the underlying meaning of the third line.
