The Demantoid Grubs
The Demantoid Grubs is a reflective poetic form concerning mining, originating in The Citizen of Confederacy. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: a line, two quatrains and two couplets.
- The first part is intended to praise the subject of the poem. It has seven syllables.
- The second part is intended to reflect on previous ideas. The third line of each quatrain must expand the idea of the first line. It has lines with four syllables.
- The third part is intended to offer a different perspective. The second line of each couplet must expand the idea of the first line. It has lines with ten syllables.
