The Pig-Iron of Making

The Pig-iron of Making is a poetic form intended to teach a moral lesson concerning Dis Missgirl, originating in The Staggering Table. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is six eleven-line stanzas. Use of assonance and epenthesis is characteristic of the form. A form of parallelism is common throughout the poem, in that certain lines reverse grammatical structures. The refrain occurs as lines one and seven.
