The Helmsman of Polar-bears is a solemn poetic form intended to express pleasure with Tothil the Rhyolite, originating in The Freeman of Supplying. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is a series of sexains. Use of assonance, ambiguity and vivid imagery is characteristic of the form. Each line has six syllables. The rhyme scheme of the poem is ABCBCB.
