The Logical Scholar

The Logical Scholar is a poetic riddle, originating in The Wavy Giant-Grouper. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is a single couplet. The Logical Scholar is always written from the perspective of the author. The ending of each line of the poem shares the same rhyme. The second line of the couplet contrasts the underlying meaning of the first line. The second line of the couplet has the same grammatical structure as the first line. The first line concerns the past. It has four feet with a syllable weight pattern of long-long (quantitative spondaic tetrameter). The second line concerns current events. It has three feet with a syllable weight pattern of long-long (quantitative spondaic trimeter).
