The Tomato of Lyrics
The Tomato of Lyrics is a devotional form of music originating in The Practical Atrocity. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. The music is played on a esnomsmeng. The entire performance should be passionate. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in the zesnunsura rhythm. Throughout, when possible, composers and performers are to play staccato and play legato.
- The esnomsmeng always provides the rhythm and is to be very soft.
- The Tomato of Lyrics has a well-defined multi-passage structure: three unrelated passages, a bridge-passage and a finale.
- Each of the simple passages is extremely fast.
- The bridge-passage is consistently slowing.
- The finale is moderately fast.
- The zesnunsura rhythm is made from two patterns: the dosno and the exazgong. The patterns are to be played over the same period of time, concluding together regardless of beat number.
- The dosno rhythm is a single line with thirty-two beats divided into four bars in a 11-6-8-7 pattern. The beat is stressed as follows:
- | x x x - x x x - x x x | - x - x - x | - - x - - - x - | x x - x x x - |
- where x is a beat, - is silent and | indicates a bar.
- The exazgong rhythm is a single line with four beats divided into two bars in a 2-2 pattern. The beat is stressed as follows:
- | - x | x - |
- where x is a beat, - is silent and | indicates a bar.
