The Nutty Lychee-Apples

The Nutty Lychee-apples is a form of music used during marches and military engagements originating in The System of Gorillas. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. The music is played on a ganoh. The entire performance is to become softer and softer. The melody has mid-length phrases throughout the form. It is performed in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, composers and performers are to use grace notes, use mordents and alternate tension and repose.

• The ganoh always does the main melody and should perform expressively.
• The Nutty Lychee-apples has a well-defined multi-passage structure: an introduction, a passage and another one to two passages possibly all repeated and a finale.
• The introduction accelerates as it proceeds. The ganoh stays in the heavy middle register. Only one pitch is ever played at a time in this passage. The passage is performed using the deh scale.
• The first simple passage is slow. The ganoh stays in the strident high register. Chords are packed close together in dense clusters in this passage. The passage is performed using the mushast scale.
• Each of the second simple passages is extremely fast. The ganoh ranges from the strident low register to the heavy middle register. This passage typically has some sparse chords. Each passage is performed using the oxuskor scale.
• The finale is very slow. The ganoh ranges from the heavy middle register to the strident high register. Chords are packed close together in dense clusters in this passage. The passage is performed using the equanamsespe scale.
• Scales are constructed from twenty-four notes spaced evenly throughout the octave. The tonic note is a fixed tone passed from teacher to student.
• The deh hexatonic scale is constructed by selection of degrees from the fundamental scale. The degrees selected are the 1st, the 6th, the 7th, the 12th, the 16th and the 22nd.
• The mushast hexatonic scale is constructed by selection of degrees from the fundamental scale. The degrees selected are the 1st, the 5th, the 9th, the 14th, the 16th and the 20th.
• The oxuskor heptatonic scale is constructed by selection of degrees from the fundamental scale. The degrees selected are the 1st, the 4th, the 8th, the 9th, the 14th, the 16th and the 19th.
• The equanamsespe heptatonic scale is constructed by selection of degrees from the fundamental scale. The degrees selected are the 1st, the 6th, the 7th, the 9th, the 12th, the 14th and the 17th.
