The Sure Papyrus-Stalk

The Sure Papyrus-stalk is a devotional form of music directed toward the worship of The Basking-shark of Overbids originally devised by the dwarf Vag Foreknowemblazoned. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. A chanter recites any composition of The Fruity Fisher-Berry. The entire performance should be stately and is very slow. The melody has phrases of varied length throughout the form. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to use mordents and alternate tension and repose.

• Each of the first simple passages is to be loud. The chanter's voice covers its entire range.
• Each of the second simple passages is to be very soft. The chanter's voice ranges from the middle register to the high register.
