The Satyric Drupe
The Satyric Drupe is a devotional form of music originally devised by the dwarf Ezuguth Paveddiffered. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. The music is played on a acogsh, three lukon, two idostutst and a niral. The musical voices cover melody, harmony and rhythm. The melody has mid-length phrases throughout the form. The music is broadly layered with chords spanning the range. It is performed without preference for a scale and in the egek rhythm. Throughout, when possible, composers and performers are to play arpeggios.
- The acogsh always provides the rhythm, should sparkle and is to be moderately soft.
- Each lukon always does the main melody, should perform expressively and is to start loud then be immediately soft. The voice stays in the buzzy high register.
- Each idostutst always does harmony, should perform with skill and is to be loud. The voice ranges from the crisp low register to the pure middle register.
- The niral always does harmony, should evoke tears and is to be very soft. The even voice ranges from the high register to the top register.
- The Satyric Drupe has a simple structure: a passage.
- The simple passage is moderately paced.
- The egek rhythm is made from three patterns: the tigir, the nebulursed and the odulimozsen. The patterns are to be played over the same period of time, concluding together regardless of beat number.
- The tigir rhythm is a single line with four beats. The beats are named erith (spoken er), binmonor (bi), gubolil (gu) and tethan (te). The beat is stressed as follows:
- where X marks an accented beat, x is a beat and | indicates a bar.
- The nebulursed rhythm is a single line with seven beats. The beats are named rokul (spoken ro), elomamar (el), sek (se), ibmas (ib), ster (ste), ozlomig (oz) and comthad (co). The beat is stressed as follows:
- | - - - x - x - |
- where x is a beat, - is silent and | indicates a bar.
- The odulimozsen rhythm is a single line with four beats. The beat is stressed as follows:
- | x - - - |
- where x is a beat, - is silent and | indicates a bar.
