The Seance of Perishing

The Seance of Perishing is a devotional form of music directed toward the worship of The Lifeless Death-rattle originally devised by the goblin Garugang Starvelingshames. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. One to six singers recite any composition of The Demantoid Grotto. The entire performance should be jumpy. The melody has mid-length phrases throughout the form. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to use grace notes, play rapid runs, play staccato and match notes and syllables.

• Each singer always does the main melody and is to be very soft. The voice uses its entire range.
• The Seance of Perishing has a simple structure: three to four lengthy unrelated passages.
• Each of the simple passages is very fast.

• In late spring of 100, The Seance of Perishing was created by the goblin Garugang Starvelingshames in Glumprongcram in order to glorify his deity The Lifeless Death-Rattle after praying to The
