The Musicianly Dates
The Musicianly Dates is a form of music used to commemorate important events originating in The Banded Funnel. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. The music is played on a cim and a engum. The musical voices are purely rhythmic. The entire performance is to be soft. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale. Throughout, when possible, performers are to syncopate.
- The cim always provides the rhythm and should bring a sense of motion.
- The engum always provides the rhythm and should evoke tears.
- The Musicianly Dates has a well-defined multi-passage structure: a theme, an exposition of the theme and a recapitulation of the theme.
- The theme is moderately paced. The passage is performed in free rhythm.
- The exposition is consistently slowing. The passage is performed in free rhythm.
- The recapitulation is moderately fast. The passage is performed in the ibmas rhythm.
- The ibmas rhythm is a single line with three beats. The beat is stressed as follows:
- where X marks an accented beat, x is a beat and | indicates a bar.
