The Euphonious Orange
The Euphonious Orange is a form of music used to commemorate important events originating in The Judgemental Confederation. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. A speaker recites The Aqua Ship while the music is played on a ijamar. The musical voices are joined in melody. The entire performance is moderately paced, and it is to be moderately loud. It is performed using the xathrato scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to modulate frequently and play arpeggios.
- The speaker always should be stately.
- The ijamar always does the main melody and should be broad.
- The Euphonious Orange has the following structure: a passage and a finale.
- The simple passage has mid-length phrases in the melody. This passage features only melodic tones and intervals.
- The finale has short phrases in the melody. Chords are packed close together in dense clusters in this passage.
- Scales are conceived of as two chords built using a division of the perfect fourth interval into eleven notes. The tonic note is fixed only at the time of performance. Preferred notes in the fundamental scale are named. The names are vuthrilsim (spoken vu, 2nd), desle (de, 4th) and pethrebinpu (pe, 11th).
- As always, the xathrato heptatonic scale is thought of as two disjoint chords drawn from the fundamental division of the perfect fourth. These chords are named deh and iquur.
- The deh tetrachord is the 1st, the 6th, the 7th and the 11th degrees of the fundamental perfect fourth division.
- The iquur tetrachord is the 1st, the 2nd, the 8th and the 11th degrees of the fundamental perfect fourth division.
