The Lyrical Apple
The Lyrical Apple is a form of music used during marches and military engagements originating in The Immortal Savagery. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. A chanter recites nonsensical words and sounds while the music is played on a roxsm. The musical voices bring melody with harmony. The entire performance is to fade into silence. The melody has short phrases throughout the form. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm.
- The chanter always should feel tender. The voice ranges from the low register to the middle register.
- The roxsm always does the main melody and should feel mysterious. The voice stays in the rugged high register.
- The Lyrical Apple has the following structure: a brief passage and another one to two passages.
- The first simple passage is voiced by the melody of the chanter reciting nonsensical words and sounds and the melody of the roxsm. The passage is moderately paced. Only one pitch is ever played at a time in this passage.
- Each of the second simple passages is voiced by the melody of the roxsm and the harmony of the chanter reciting nonsensical words and sounds. Each passage is very fast. This passage features only melodic tones and intervals.
