The Pecan of Humming

The Pecan of Humming is a form of music used to commemorate important events originating in The Mighty Flags. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. A chanter recites nonsensical words and sounds while the music is played on a oqe and one to four teqoad. The musical voices bring melody with harmony. The melody has mid-length phrases throughout the form. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, composers and performers are to make trills. The voice ranges from the low register to the middle register. The voice uses its entire range from the wavering low register to the strained high register.

• The Pecan of Humming has the following structure: a chorus and a lengthy verse all repeated two times.
• The chorus is voiced by the melody of the chanter reciting nonsensical words and sounds, the melody of the oqe and the harmony of the teqoad. The passage should be broad and is moderately paced, and it is to be soft. This passage is richly layered with full chords making use of the available range.
• The verse is voiced by the melody of the teqoad. The passage should build as it proceeds and slows and broadens, and it is to be loud. Only one pitch is ever played at a time in this passage.
