The Roc of Safeguarding
The Roc of Safeguarding is a devotional form of music directed toward the worship of Dus Mindedstalkers originating in The Verbatim Brass. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. The music is played on a zebshetnetes. The melody has mid-length phrases throughout the form. Chords, seldom-used, are sparse -- intervals and single pitches are favored. The music repeats for as long as necessary. It is performed using the kekorith scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to use mordents.
- The zebshetnetes always does the main melody and plays rapid runs.
- The Roc of Safeguarding has the following structure: three unrelated passages and a finale.
- Each of the simple passages should be vigorous and is very fast, and it is to be soft.
- The finale should be grand and is slow, and it is to be moderately loud.
- Scales are constructed from twenty-four notes spaced evenly throughout the octave. The tonic note is fixed only at the time of performance. After a scale is constructed, the root note of chords are named. The names are mer (spoken me) and zulal (zu).
- The kekorith hexatonic scale is constructed by selection of degrees from the fundamental scale. The degrees selected are the 1st, the 5th, the 7th, the 13th, the 19th and the 22nd.
