The Graniferous Monkey-Pots
The Graniferous Monkey-pots is a group performance dance originating in The Civilian Nettles. The rules of the form are applied by choreographers to produce individual dances which can be performed. The dance is accompanied by The Flowery Passion-Fruit. The dancers perform in a double circle. The passive dance is punctuated by relaxed arm carriage performed in succession by group members and rightward bends.
- The dance begins with the theme of the music. The dancers perform slower and slower to the ocaquica rhythm. This sprightly strong graceful section is punctuated by sinuous footwork and leftward bends.
- The dance enters a new section with the bridge-passage of the music. The dancers perform slowly to the wori rhythm. This fluid section is punctuated by large moves and movement performed in retrograde by group members.
- The dance enters a new section with the coda of the music. The dancers perform to the tafalofi rhythm. This section is punctuated by kicks shadowed by group members and soft footwork.
