The Citron of Cucumbers

The Citron of Cucumbers is a social partner dance originating in The Diagnostic Grandparent. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Eggplant-Fruit of Cherries. The dancers perform in a double circle. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent by pulling away. There are partner changes throughout the dance with the lead turning out counterclockwise. This dance is a refined artform, with three specific moves to be mastered. The powerful joyous sensual dance is punctuated by clockwise eighth turns and flamboyant hand gestures.

• The dance begins with the passages of the music. The dancers perform along an intricate path, moving quickly to the gad rhythm. This intense twisting section is punctuated by kicks and the passionate right kicks of the lead.
• The dance enters a new section with the next passages of the music. The dancers perform along an improvised path, moving slower and slower to the pumdom rhythm. This undulating section is punctuated by the sinuous leaps of the follower.
• The ehim is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is vivacious footwork with an undulating counterclockwise eighth quarter turn.
• The iquin is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is an energetic sway.
• The ijaspugolet is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a run from the lead with vigorous independent body movement, a vivacious facial expression from the follower and a strong arm carriage.
