The Pistillate Roses
The Pistillate Roses is a group performance dance originating in The Cooperation of Umbras. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Vinous Lyrics. The dancers perform in a single line. This dance is a refined artform, with four specific moves to be mastered. The dance is punctuated by softly percussive runs.
- The dance begins with the verse of the music. The dancers perform along an intricate path, moving quickly with the music. This fluid section is punctuated by serene facial expressions mirrored by group members and right leg lifts.
- The dance enters a new section with the chorus of the music. The dancers perform slowly to the ezok rhythm. There is a basic movement called the qada. There is a series of eight graceful steps in a square pattern. This sensual section is punctuated by weightless arm carriage mirrored by group members, leaps and low body level.
- The kidoi is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a graceful body level change with a clockwise eighth half turn.
- The jed is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a clockwise eighth turn with an understated raised arm and independent body movement performed in succession by group members.
- The dokot is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a sinuous body level change shadowed by group members with a proud arm carriage.
- The otep is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a soft leap with a strong hand gesture, a straight-lined raised right arm and a leg lift shadowed by group members.
