The Wholegrain Persimmons
The Wholegrain Persimmons is a social group dance originating in The Government of Sports. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by any composition of The Lyrical Pear. The dancers perform in a circle along an intricate path, moving to the music's qada rhythm. This dance is a refined artform, with three special positions to be mastered. The dance is punctuated by crude hand gestures, joyous spins and elaborate footwork.
- The dance begins with the introduction of the music. This elaborate section is punctuated by forward bends, sinuous leaps and high arm carriage, with large moves.
- The dance enters a new section with the theme of the music. The dancers perform slowly with the music. This section is sinuous.
- The dance enters a new section with the recapitulation of the theme of the music. The dancers perform faster and faster with the music. This section is punctuated by graceful counterclockwise eighth turns and expressive independent body movement.
- The dance enters a new section with the bridge-passage of the music. This section is punctuated by refined counterclockwise half turns.
- The dance enters a new section with the finale of the music. The dancers perform slowly with the music. This section is punctuated by crude raised left arms performed in retrograde by group members.
- The totop is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a raised left arm with a graceful hand gesture, a strong leg lift and a low body level performed in succession by group members.
- The tad is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be an understated raised arm with a high body level, a sluggish leg lift and a leftward bend shadowed by group members.
