The Prickle-Berry of Pods
The Prickle-berry of Pods is a performance partner dance originating in The Wills of Bottling. The rules of the form are applied by choreographers to produce individual dances which can be performed. The dance is accompanied by any composition of The Cranberry of Cherries. The dancers perform in several lines, moving slower and slower with the music. There are partner changes throughout the dance with the lead turning out clockwise. The strong fluid dance is punctuated by undulating rightward bends, powerful footwork and backward bends.
- The dance begins with the verse of the music. The dancers perform to the naccak rhythm. The partners maintain open contact, communicating intent by pulling away. This section is punctuated by the low body level of the follower.
- The dance enters a new section with the chorus of the music. The partners dance closely, communicating intent by pulling away.
- The dance enters a new section with the bridge-passage of the music. The dancers perform to the ibbekur rhythm. The partners dance closely, communicating intent through touch. This vivacious section is punctuated by the sway of the lead, counterclockwise eighth turns and the powerful arm carriage of the follower.
- The dance enters a new section with the finale of the music. The dancers perform to the kungujith rhythm. The partners rarely make contact, communicating intent briefly through spoken cues. This section is punctuated by the raised left arms of the lead, the raised arms of the lead and joyous curved walks.
