The Lilac Guavas

The Lilac Guavas is a war dance originating in The Confederacy of Dowels. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by any composition of The Pear of Blueberries. The dancers perform in a double circle turning clockwise. The vigorous dance is punctuated by sprightly independent body movement and expressive sway.

• The dance begins with the passage of the music. The dancers perform slower and slower with the music. This sharp-edged powerful section is punctuated by intense facial expressions, low arm carriage and raised arms.
• The dance enters a new section with the finale of the music. The dancers perform slower and slower with the music. This section is punctuated by joyous hand gestures.
• The dance enters a new section with the coda of the music. The dancers perform quickly with the music. This section is punctuated by joyous left kicks and spirited left leg lifts.
