The Peduncular Fruit
The Peduncular Fruit is a solo performance dance originating in The Cylindrical Entity. The rules of the form are applied by choreographers to produce individual dances which can be performed. The dance is accompanied by The Offbeat Cashew. The dancer performs along a clockwise circle, moving very quickly with the music. This dance is a refined artform, with one special position to be mastered. The dance is punctuated by softly percussive straight walks.
- The dance begins with the theme of the music. The dancer performs to the tipoa rhythm. There is a basic movement called the iqoq. There is a series of three steps in a circular pattern with a lively clockwise eighth turn, a passionate hand gesture and a fluid forward bend. This section is punctuated by softly percussive footwork and refined facial expressions.
- The dance enters a new section with the variations on the theme of the music. The dancer performs to the qapoaq rhythm. There is a basic movement called the tik. There is a series of two loudly percussive steps in a square pattern with a large backward bend. This section is punctuated by passionate body level changes.
- The ako the fundamental dance position. There should be a high body level with a high arm carriage, a proud facial expression and a lively leg lift.
